Modular stick built dollhouse: PART IV

...got an idea for the roof...any angle !!

To see entire project click here

60 degree pitch with top molding & trim on the gable edge.  Shingles fit just below ridge trim.

The front & back roof sections lock in near the eaves (see next drawing) then close together at the peak - a 3/16" dowel holds the roof in place.

Roof tongue inserted into wall - slipped under pin (white dot.)

Showing 4 different angles - can create any angle up to 60 degrees. Not used for flat or shed type roof.

Light & dark tan pieces in foreground:

  • 5/8" dowel - cut centered 1/4" groove
  • Glue 1/4" x 1/4" strip wood into groove
  • Cross-cut dowel/strip wood assembly into 1-1/2 to 2" pieces
  • Drill 3/16" hole thru center of each dowel/strip wood asb.

Then each of theses dowel/strip wood asbs. are glued to the roof framing & rafters. Assemble at desired angle - insert 3/16" dowel (cyan) to lock front (orange) & back (yellow) halves of roof together.
